Because the technical support and setup/configuration documentation is lacking, it is difficult to operate the the camera remotely via the web interface. The D-Link setup wizards and utilities do not work with Windows 8.1 on a Surface tablet; their use is limited with the Windows 10 environment and will not work with the new Microsoft Edge browser. The web interface via my Android phone is also very limited. All that I am basically able to to is monitor the video feed (which is quite qood) and pan/tilt the camera. Have never been able to format an onboard micro SD high capacity card, thus cannot get the event trigger and recording applications to work at all. March 28, 2016

      Rated 1 out of 5�by returned it. My Dlink web sight: Huge pain that java doesn't work in Chrome. Back to IE. java and Active X don't work seamlessly with website. have to click through error and warning messages. Graphical user interface is unintuitive and confusing. Help full hints are unclear. Advanced settings seem as though they were written by a first year foreigner exchange student. Almost unintelligible. Supper slow response time form when the camera is commanded to pan to when it starts to move. Even when hooked up to Ethernet cable directly. day three and haven't been able to figure out how to turn motion detection on. I have both tick boxes for motion and audio detection selected. Ridiculously slow, almost unusable. Camera.: Looks good has all the features I wanted. fairly good image quality. Haven't been able to find how to set it to HD only 320 and 480. Wireless range is almost unusable. The range needs to be increased. needs to be at least as good as my cell phone on wi fi. should be better because it has an external antenna Unacceptable time delay on audio. Feedback is ridiculous when in proximity of camera. There is no reason why this devise shouldn't work as well as Skype with video. It is too slow. Mobile app: Easy to install and get working quickly. Camera pan and tilt delay a bit better than web site but still annoyingly too slow. Panning and tilting resulted in image mirroring and flipping. Was unable to find how this happend in the mobile app or how to correct it . I needed to go mydlink website to correct the problem....frustrating. Motion detection: The motion detection sends me an email that motion was detected but with no picture. what good is that. I think i set it up right. not sure though... It also sends me notifications of motion detected when i pan the camera. Useless. Bottom line. If you are an IT guru or software developer and have lots of spare time you might be able to get this thing to work as advertised. You will still not be impressed with the lag for both pan and voice. Its like what you would expect in early 90's with an XT running the first web cam. I used to think of Dlink as a reputable company. They don't seem to be better than cheep knockoff companies making disposable junk. Given the state of this camera I would guess Dlink is 5 years away from a viable product. Hopefully someone else gets something out there sooner, with all the features this camera has. Its a great idea if it can be made to work seamlessly. I will be returning it to the store. May 1, 2015
      Rated 1 out of 5�by junk wow, I tried to set this thing up and just plain could not so I had a friend of mine to come over and install it(he works with computers every day) and it took him over 2 hours to set it up. after he left the camera reversed the picture for no reason so here I am 1 1/2 hrs later and still can not figure out how to change the "mirror" .they show a page to go to and how to do it but absolutely no info on how to get there. then theres the pan and tilt, wow what a joke only one mode is remotely usable. don't buy this kind of junk,I would return it but I ran out of time to take it back.       There is a mounting plate but there are no mounting instructions inclosed. I can not see how to attach the mounting plate to the camera base.

      there is a small bag in the box with some screws and a bolt to attach the bracket to the base of the camera

Once the mounting plate has been attached to the wall or ceiling, you should be able to press and fit the camera up into the base mounted plate, matching the mounting slots, and then slowly twist the camera to lock it into place within the mounting base plate.       As long as your internet or wireless connection to the camera is stable and does not encounter any interference the DCS-5222L should not time out and reset. The camera generally will reset if it loses connectivity to either its network connectivity or power source.
